Setup service terms
Effective August 31, 2026
These four terms govern a Backbrief setup engagement: remote delivery of a working Backbrief installation into your own environment. They exist so you know exactly what delivery involves before you pay, especially the first one. They apply alongside the site's general terms of service.
1. AI processing disclosure
Delivery of this service uses Claude (Anthropic PBC) and related AI developer tools. Content from your environment that the service touches, including source code, configuration, file contents, and business documents, is transmitted to the model provider's servers for processing as part of delivery, subject to the provider's own terms and data-handling commitments (for Anthropic commercial products, provider policy as published at anthropic.com applies; we do not control it). By purchasing, you confirm you are authorized to permit this processing for the materials in scope. You may exclude any file, directory, credential, or system from scope in writing before work begins, and we will honor those exclusions.
2. Credentials and access
We request the minimum access needed for the engagement, and prefer client-created, scoped, revocable credentials (e.g. a restricted API key, a collaborator invite, a temporary account) over shared passwords. Credentials you provide are used only for this engagement, are not stored outside the engagement workspace, and are yours to revoke at any time; we will confirm in writing when work is complete so you can revoke them. We never move money, send messages to your customers, publish, or delete data with your credentials unless the statement of work names that action explicitly and you approve it in writing at the time.
3. Ownership
Rules, agents, commands, and configuration written specifically for you during this engagement are yours on full payment: use, modify, and share them freely within your organization. Backbrief's pre-existing materials (the Backbrief Kit, the Backbrief Business OS, and our general methods, templates, and know-how) remain ours and are licensed to you under their own license terms, which this engagement does not modify. Nothing in this engagement transfers ownership of Backbrief's products, and nothing grants us ownership of your code, data, or business information, including anything our work touched.
4. Limitation of liability
The service is provided with reasonable skill and care. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising from or related to this engagement is limited to the amount you paid for it, and neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. We do not warrant any particular business outcome, level of AI model performance, or fitness of third-party services (including the model provider) that we do not control. Nothing in this clause limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing reduces any non-waivable statutory right you hold in your jurisdiction.
Questions about any of these, or about what an engagement scopes in and out, are welcome before you buy: the answer in writing beats a surprise after.
